Authors Guild Back-in-Print Program: How to Submit your Out-of-Print Title for Approval1. Gather your submission package, which should include the following: • A completed Authors Guild Title Submission Form. Please sign and date the end of this document, to show that you have read and agree to the conditions laid out in the Participating Authors’ Reprint Agreement. • Reversion of Rights Letter: A reversion of rights letter must be obtained from the author's last publisher. Such a letter stipulates that rights have reverted back to the author that allows for the possibility of proceeding with a print-on-demand reprint of the work. • Any Necessary Permissions Letters: The original permissions letters for copyright protected song lyrics, lines of verse, photographs, cover art, quotations and/or other material included in the work. If the original permissions letters are limited to a single edition of the work, new permissions letters may have to be obtained in order to include the borrowed material in a reprint edition. Include a written statement of permission from any co-authors. 2. Mail your submission package to: The Authors Guild Attn: Backinprint.com 31 East 32nd Street, 7th Floor New York, NY 10016 If you have any questions while putting together your package, please e-mail or call Isabel Howe at ihowe@authorsguild.org or (212) 563-5904. 3. Send your original book to iUniverse: • Once your application is approved, we will send you a letter instructing you to send two (2) copies of the book to iUniverse. They will be taken apart and scanned, so they must be the same edition and in good condition. • Additional Electronic Materials: If there is an image that you would like to appear on the cover of the book – and if you have the right to use this image – please send it on a CD with your books. For an idea of what your cover might look like, please visit www.backinprint.com and browse our online bookstore. If you have an author photo that you would like to appear on the back cover, please include this on the CD as well. |
